VW Beetle small back window Mint 1200cc 1964 The second of our beautifully restored and finished to an exceptionally high standard VW Beetles is this small rear window 1964 Volkswagen Beetle 1200. Having been owned by the previous keeper for a number of years the Beetle has been completely stripped to a bare rolling chassis and a comprehensive restoration undertaken with works including: Body _ Completely taken back to bare metal with wings doors bonnet all removed to allow thorough inspection and remedial repairs carried out as required. Floor pans taken back to bare metal and repainted black. The body has then been professionally repainted in Volkswagen L360 Sea Blue with as much care given to the interior / underside as on the main body itself and when reassembly took place the Beetle was fitted with all new window door deck and bonnet rubbers. Suspension _ All components stripped and cleaned. Larger items have then been painted / powdercoated before being built back up with all new bushes balljoints tierod ends bearings etc. Brakes _ fully stripped and overhauled all new brake lines installed. Lighting _ All lens chrome bezels and wiring have all been replaced and are in asnew condition. Chrome / Bright work _ Again all new bumpers side trim window inserts etc. are new. The only chrome original to the car is that of the front quarter windows with this showing some minor pitting. Mechanical _ I am led to believe that the engine / gearbox are correct to the car. The car has just had carried out a full service including oil filters plugs points condenser and also fitted a newly refurbished (and to original specification) Solex 28 PICT/1 Carburettor. The Beetle has since been professionally tuned and with a focus on maintaining originality it is fair to say the 40bhp motor suits a more leisurely drive but its delightful with how well the 1200 engine and gearbox perform. Interior _ To establish a show quality car the interior was completely stripped out and fully replaced. She now has an original perforated headlining fitted the original badly worn steering wheel has been refurbished a bespoke Sisal carpet set with underfelt to reduce road noise and the seats / door cards have both been fully retrimmed in slate / offwhite and even she has had fitted a removable parcel shelf behind the rear seat. The ivory switch gear all remains in good working order and the car has an original Blaupunkt radio fitted (though this is purely for show but could be refurbished to working condition). She comes with two sets of keys valid MOT recent receipts an Autopress Workshop Manual and currently shows a recorded 64100 miles. This beautiful 64 Beetle has received so many positive comments recently; people waving and great big smiles from young and old alike. Ready to find a new home this 64 Beetle is an absolute gem and not to be missed.
