Rolls Royce Spur 11 1989 "Pre-production Model - If you like a bit of motoring history, this beautiful Rolls Royce Silver Spur 11 takes a lot of beating! This is the very Right Hand Drive model of this series built and only 310 Right Hand Drive Spur 11s were ever made across the entire production run!
This car was built by Rolls Royce for their own promotional use and described on its original build sheet (present with the car) as a 1989 built, 1990 Pre-Production model and featured in a lot of their 1990 sales brochures. Even more un-usual is the fact it retained some of the Spur 1 features ie the big back window and rear seat, apparently the only Spur 11 to do this!
Retained by Rolls Royce until 1997, about the same time as the company was sold to VW. Then a lady owner until its last elderly gentleman owner who had it for 12 years using it for Mayoral duties. Unfortunately the car never had, to his knowledge, service or handbooks from new. Rolls never needed them but there are old MoT certificates and bills etc. helping to point to the fact that the 49,000 recorded miles could be correct. The bodywork is excellent and in this very rare dark blue metallic colour complimented beautifully by an ever rarer blue "everflex" roof. The Interior is also excellent with little or no wear present on the parchment coloured seats with contrasting but matched to the exterior, blue piping. It still has that "smell" you know the one? That smell you only get in the interior of an old English car with quality hide trim.
The engine, gearbox and drivetrain are described as all good and the active suspension and fuel injection, both a first on the Spur 11, function as they should. No warning lights on the dashboard are illuminated when driving and all other electrical items function as designed. Tyres and all other general mechanics are all very good.
A lovely piece of Rolls Royce history and truly "One of a kind".
