Ford Fiesta "Java" 1600cc 1994 - A classic in the making? Well if its like every other Fiesta that went before it this tidy MK3 version is destined to be especially when as rare as this one is. In 1994, just before the MK4 Fiesta was introduced to the range, Ford produced the "Fiesta MK3 Java" as a bit of a special model, featuring as standard a higher quality interior, a sunroof, 5 doors, alloy wheels, 5 speed manual gearbox, electric windows, remote boot release and power steering and equipped with their venerable 1300cc engine. But they also offered it with a 1600cc twin cam engine under the bonnet, why you have to ask as it was marketed as a small family hatch back. How many were sold in this spec no one seems to know, but this being one of them and with only 25 in total (1300 and 1600cc) being licensed for road use, its pretty rare. With only 3 owners, a full history, low miles of just short of 58K and a current MOT through to September 2017, its hardly surprising the vendor describes the car as mechanically sound. But he also says out on the open road the extra 50% power hike over its 1300cc sibling, can really be felt with performance more akin to a hot hatch of its time. Gearbox, clutch breaks etc are all good. As are its original alloys and its tyres. Body work is good but with all that engine under the bonnet the heat has caused the paint to dull and really needs to be resprayed, other than that polishes well with just a few dinks and scratches. Offered at a price it is worth buying and just sticking away or as an excellent intro into the "retro" car scene for our younger clients.
