Having been off the road since 2012 this rare and desirable 500SL version of Mercedes sought after R107 Sports car will need some recommissioning prior to use. Mileage at its last MOT in July 2012 was 56525 and it has barely turned a wheel since. Looking at its MOT history which goes back to May 2005 the mileage then was 54465 so only 2000 odd miles in 7 years. Being first registered 1st of August 1977 the body work has survived well , considering it is 40 years old this year, there are some small areas that need attention, predominately the trailing edge of the boot lid where there are bubbles under the paint, not broken through yet but will need to be addressed sooner than later. Otherwise the rest is good and still polishes up nicely. Being the 500 this car is the most sort after of the range and that lovely 5 litre V8 under the hood is in fine fettle, powerful and smooth these really were a quick car in their time and still hold their own today. The auto gear box functions correctly and the rest of the general mechanics are good. The interior is very good with little evidence of the common failure of the material Mercedes used for their seats at this time. The convertible roof is in good order too. There is no MOT currently on the car, although as said it has not been anywhere to talk of since the last one plus coming with masses of bills, invoices, all its old MOTs, this car has obviously been looked after. Only now being offered for sale as part of a downsizing in the number of vehicles owned by the vendor, a realistic reserve has been set to allow the future owner an excellent investment opportunity.
