Ford Zephyr Mk2 "Low Line" Manual with Overdrive 1961 - This last year of production for the MK2 Zephyr has previously been in long term ownership, during which time had under gone a full refresh to its body work, addressing any problems on the way and becoming the lovely example you see today. Unfortunately due to a loss in the family it is now looking for a new owner that will cherish it in the same way. As already mentioned its bodywork is lovely and with new paint that was done a while back, so has lost that "just done" look. The vendor says there were no major areas of rust in the first place, just tired 50 year old paint that had its share of chips and scratches. Chrome work is very good all round and the look of the car is complimented by a set of brand new period "white wall" tyres and the much sought after front screen visor. The car sits nicely with the correct stance and no sign of the back end drooping. Inside needed nothing more than a clean with its original seat covers etc being left in place and still considering their age, in excellent condition. It would be a shame to lose that originality for just a couple of nicks here and there. Dash is very nice with the rectangular set up peculiar to the "Low Line" model this is. Carpets, door panels etc are nice with just a small amount of ageing apparent on the steering wheel. Engine wise all is excellent with the 2553cc engine starting instantly and soon settling into a smooth tick over. On the road it behaves as designed, pulling nicely through all the gears, no nasty noises. Brakes, well the are 1961 brakes and need a good shove, but are more than up to the job and stop in a straight line, helped by the new tyres all round . Electrics work all round but unfortunately someone broke the areal so that has been removed and so has the heater blower. This car is a superb example of a much loved and admired car. Values are going up daily and nice cars are hard to find especially at the very sensible level the vendor has set the reserve at. So weather it's a show car, an investment of a useable classic that is easy to up-keep you are looking for, this one ticks all the boxes. Mot'd until June next year so ready to go.
