A rare and interesting silk lined fur case of military interest, the lacquered brass inner plates engraved with inscription ''Presented to Pn Sergt J. Dodds by Miss E Thompson - Painter of The Roll Call 1877''. Elizabeth Thompson painted The Roll Call, bought by Queen Victoria, and used Sergeant Dodds as an advisor on military uniforms in the painting.
