Stanley Matthews 925 Silver Football Bust: The Stoke, Blackpool and one of the most famous England players is expertly portrayed by Aspreys of London. Bespoke order measuring 35cm high was created in 2001. The lion symbol is the fineness mark for silver, 925 denotes the purity of the silver, in this case it is sterling silver meaning it has 925 part of pure silver per 1000. We estimate that 2kg of the 3kg is silver with 6kg being alloys. The leopards head symbol represents the assay town where the item was hallmarked, in this case, it is the assay town mark for London. The letter and the font style of the letter along with the shape of the shield that surround it are specific to a particular year, the font style of the letter shown we believe is the letter b and represents the year 2001, the year in which it was assayed. Markers mark shown on the photograph is consistent with the Asprey markings.
