A fine quality Russian silver and enamel egg, the silver body with applied scrolling foliate wirework with multi-coloured cloisonne enamelling, inset with garnet cabochon to top and bottom. Bearing 88 silver purity mark, kokoshnik for 1908-1917 and Cyrillic makers mark for work master Fedor Ruckert, who worked exclusively for Faberge. Hallmarked to the inner rim and to both parts fo the gilt interior, and standing upon an 84 silver three footed stand with stylised dolphin feet. Egg: 3 3/4'' tall (without stand) weight: 166g approximately

Cyrillic makers mark for work master Julius Rappaport who in 1895 became head silversmith for Faberge and his most important supplier of silver objects. Known for his naturalist silver animals with commissions for Royal and Imperial families. Length: 2 1/2'', WeighT: 111g approx.
