Thames Ironworks Gazette Bound Volume 1895 - 1900: The most exciting West Ham lot to come to the market ever in my opinion. The Thames Ironwork Quarterly Gazette from issue number 1 1895 to 1900. The shipworkers magazine is incredible and writes about its Dramatic Society, Cricket Team, Choral Society, Cycling, Athletics and even plans for the forthcoming Blackwall Tunnell and the invention of the grabber. Of course more importantly the Thames Ironworks Football Team who existed between the dates of this bound volume 1895 - 1900. Incredibly June 1895 "MR Taylor undertakes to start a Football Team" with many other football references including fixtures results the making of the first handbook 1900/1901 and a section in 1900 an announcement that they are to "change their name to West Ham United in order to get more support from enthusiasts in the borough". Other articles state that the 1900 team will have to be better and they are transferring players from other teams including Arsenal Port Vale and Bristol City and will put the local lads in the second team (nothing changes). Over 300 pages with team groups of the Football team etc neatly bound without covers we believe after this date. C/W loose June 1900 with cover which goes into depth about the team, who they played for and the name "West Ham". An original piece of history and the only one of its kind.
