An Important II world war medal group including the MM The Military Medal for Gallantry in the field of war. One of a group of six war medals awarded to 6398674 L/Corporal James Henry Hickman Sussex Reg. awarded for outstanding gallantry during the battle of Wadi Akarit Tunisia North Africa. This was a significant battle which contributed to the success of Operation Scipo. Under intense fire Hickman took control of a small group of soldiers and in pitch darkness progressed through enemy lines including a bayonet charge clearing enemy trenches. Sold with Army Certificate of service Buckingham place investiture admission 31/10/1944 and copy of the military war office citation.
