Lot number: 140

Rover P5B 3500 Automatic 1973 First registered in February 1973 this glorious example of what some people say is Rover Car Companies post war finest car and produced before the influence of Leylands ownership of the name. Presented in the rare Silver Birch this Rover P5B was built when Rovers were known for their build quality. The P5B being the first Rover to have the newly acquired from Buick 3500cc aluminium V8 under the bonnet. So now you had the looks and an engine capable of moving it at a pace as well. Production of the P5 ceased in 1973 so BOD606L must be one of the last to be produced. Coming with an extensive history file this shows times when various restoration work to the body have been professionally carried out there is a bill totalling 1500 back in 1991 for panel work and painting then one in 2014 for recommissioning having been off the road again. Plus masses more including a lot of old MOTs and service bills all helping to back up the very low recorded mileage showing only 81542 today. The body work is still very nice with no signs of rust etc very straight and clean. There are a couple of window lower seals that are perished on the l/h side the r/h ones looked to of been replaced. The Rostyle chrome and black wheels are in good order while the tyres have recently been replaced all be with modern profile ones that do however help with the road holding and noise. The chrome on the bumpers has recently been renewed so is in very good order. The rest of the exterior bright work is all present and in good condition. Interior is good there are one or two areas that could be improved on but still a very nice cabin to be seated in. Mechanically everything is described as good with the engine starting easily every time without effort no smoke or rattles just that nice V8 purring away. The gearbox is smooth in operation and brakes etc work very well. These P5s were not a sports car more a gentlemans carriage and driven as such they are very smooth and cover distances quickly and in comfort. Today they are much sought after not only by enthusiasts and collectors of the Marque but by lovers of classic cars that can be used and enjoyed as a daily classic. Currently with an MOT until 27th of June so ready to be driven home by its next lucky owner.
