Mercedes 500SL32 1992 This very nice August 1992 Mercedes 500SL32 marked the last year of the original R129 model prior to its first update in 1993. Finished in this rare red exterior with its original colour matched hard top and with the 5.0litre 32 valve V8 producing a quoted 322HP is as desirable today as it was when new. That big old V8 is what gives these cars that lovely lazy feel no massive push at any particular revs just a constant smooth stream of power. When launched a 6 second 060 was quoted and a top speed that was electronically limited to 155 mph but figures such as 30 to the gallon were also being obtained. Today the engine in this car is still the same starting with no problem from cold no nasty noises and still just as capable. This and the transmission in general are described as very good by the vendor. The body work is very nice with only a very few slight imperfections the majority of which can be found on the removable hard top caused from storage when not on the car. But nothing that detracts from the overall appearance of the car. Lets face it once removed and with the soft top on this car being in good order the new owner will probably do the same leave it in storage. The nice tan coloured interior has survived very well just slight wear evident on the outer side seat bolster drivers side and one small snag in the base. An easy fix if not left to get worse and done now. The dash carpets and door trims are all in very good condition as are the wood veneers. In the boot and nice to have is the removable draught screen for when the roof is down. General mechanics are all good and the car will have a new MOT prior to the auction but having had so little use over the last few years we would recommend a small amount of recommissioning. There is a service history with the car. Its first 9 stamps are Mercedes then Brooklands independents this shows a very low 51.500 miles in 1999. In 2002 Brooklands service it again but at 22766 miles? Then a mix of Mercedes and independents through to 2004 and now 40K. Next stamp shows 91K in 2007?? After that it goes back to normal no more stamps but the old Mot history shows mileage in 2011 is 95K. Between 2011 and 2015 the dash was changed to the later digital read out and shows 545 miles at its next MOT in August 2015. Today the mileage is 665. Bottom line is that although the vendor knows the mileage is low there is no way to tell exactly how low. Offered here today with a very sensible reserve and with its original owners pack.
