MGB Roadster "Chrome Bumper" 1974 - Needing no introduction is this 1974, so last year of the "Chrome Bumpers", MGB Roadster. Presented in the popular colours of green over a black interior and having been subject to a full restoration in the early to mid 90S. Included in the restoration was the fitment of a new engine at 40,000 miles so with only 52,000 miles on the clock today its barely run in and behaves accordingly on the road, especially on the more twisty A and B roads where the lower centre of gravity of the pre-rubber bumper cars really comes into its own, allowing you to fully use the venerable 1800cc twin Carb motor fully and if wanted, giving how should we say? A "hasty" progress that would embarrass many modern cars. With thousands spent over the years and with the bills to prove, its hardly surprising that the vendor describes the general mechanics as 100% quoting" I would drive it to Cornwall without a thought". The engine is still fresh, with excellent oil pressure and the gearbox is tight ,with the overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear that these later cars had, still working in both gears. Body wise, although painted 20 odd years ago, its still very good ( in the history file are pictures of the car in full primer prior to painting). But it is 20 years since, the car has been used and there are a couple of minor imperfections. Interior is lovely and comes with both half and full toneau covers, while the vendor states he spent a long time under the car , prior to it being professionally rust proofed, trying to spot any problem areas, nothing and no sign of any previous repairs either. Comes with a nice file of receipts for things like the engine, a fresh MOT prior to the auction, loads of old MOTs dating back to 1996 and a valuation certificate showing a value of 8,500 in 2002. Sweet! Please Note: Will be back on its original "N" plate when sold at the auction
