WW1 Officers 1914 casualty medal group to Second Lieutenant Lionel Holford Hughes 1st Bn North Staffordshire Regiment who died on 29th October 1914 age 19. 1914 Star Trio named 2.Lieut.L.H.HUGHES memorial plaque and memorial scroll all framed and glazed (not open for inspection) He was killed in action in trenches at Rue Du Bois whilst his battalion were removing a large number of German fallen which had built up in front of their trench. He was killed by stray shell. He is on the war memorial in Hixon, Staffs and others and attended Lancing College and has many entries on the internet. Please see his blue cloth helmet in this sale.

This lot contains a beautiful Wilkinson Dress Sword, engraved with the words "Her majesty queen elizabeth, her mother" and bares the crests of multiple divisions including the Woman's air force and royal navy, as well as having the words "Honorary colonel" engraved on the blade. The hilt of the sword is a fine silver with trimmings of blue felt, followed by a brown tassle at the end. It is all fitted in a large box with specific mounts to keep the blade and hilt in place, along with the Wilkinson Sword's logo on the inside of the case.
